December SOLD

SOLD 8x10 acrylic on canvas

A closer look at one of my pieces from the December show at Gallery 629 in Merrickville. Winter is one of my favourite seasons to express visually. Snowy mornings, misty light, sparkling whites, long shadows, light halos...all inspire! This is a scene looking out my back window onto a neighbours' property - a mystical moment to recreate.

Harvest Path

6x6 Oil on cradled panel

Spring is in full swing here. I'm gearing up for a gallery opening in June - details to follow. In the meantime I'm continuing to paint with oils; loving the creamy, blendability of the medium. A remembered scene from my walks in Ontario.

A Winter Path

It has been a few months since I dipped a brush into paint. The past two weeks I have been painting again - mostly little studies - to warm up my lax skills. The beauty of winter never fails to inspire!

Nichol's Locks

                                            10x10 acrylic on canvas panel

This scene was painted at Long Island Locks in Ottawa. It was also one of the few sunny days I've experienced for outdoor painting. It was hard not to chase the sun and to stick to painting quickly.

"The Piggery"

                                                                6x6 acrylic  SOLD

Finally a successful day for outdoor painting! This charming little building was begging to be painted. What a challenge though! One minute the sun was shining the next dark clouds cast shadows. The wind whipped up and sent this panel flying several times and I even persevered through a rain shower. I'm pleased with the results and can only hope our next outdoor session has a more consistent clime in which to work.
