In the Folds of the Fissures - SOLD

                                                       12x12 Mixed Media on panel

I've been exploring more mixed media works along with my regular use of acrylics in painting people, places, and things. In creating art, I still swing between realism and imaginative work. I often will turn from painting a landscape to something totally new and loose, and let the process dictate the outcome.

I've discovered gold! The results are so satisfying. I enjoy the effects that occur when painting over gold leaf. (This photo just doesn't do this piece justice. It is rich with a gold hue and shine, and very textural.)

At the time I was creating this a dear person in my life was going through great trauma. I was often thinking of her pain - praying she would be comforted and protected. When I called the piece "finished" and took a step back, even I was surprised. It was obvious my subconscious emotions were embedded in this work.

Can you spot anything being "held within the folds"?

Highway Highrise SOLD

5x7 acrylic on canvas framed

We've been off on some Yukon adventures this summer. The drive never bores me; it offers wonderful inspiration. From the Alaska highway.

Montana Mountain

                                           8x10 Acrylic on Canvas
Currently at Arts Underground, Whitehorse, YT.

I recently participated in a plein air group session at Carcross, YT. As artists, we were there to support the natural beauty of the dunes; to capture the sites in various mediums, and in so doing, encourage others to explore the uniqueness and take a second look at preserving the place in its pristine condition.

This is the work I created that day. The wind was wild, as it so often is coming off Bennett Lake. Our bodies and art work were physically sand blasted! It was a great day.

On site at the dunes and with the participating artists.

Northwestel's 2013 Phone Directory Cover Art Winner!!

                                Light Rustles on the Cabin

I am so thrilled to announce another win! Light Rustles on the Cabin was chosen for this year's NWTel phone directory cover. This is such an honor. Thank you, NWTEL!

When I encountered this particular cabin along the river, with the sunlight rustling over the snowy roof and yard, I knew I had to capture the moment. There is a lure of legend in that sheltered spot. This is a well known and much loved landmark in Whitehorse, YT.

STOLEN! STOLEN! STOLEN! STOLEN!

8x10 acrylic on canvas: the title is written on the
back of the stretcher bar "White Pass Wonder"

I received disturbing news this week; it would appear this 8x10 painting entitled "White Pass Wonder" has been stolen from the gallery wall at Arts Underground.
There has been a rash of art theft in Whitehorse most recently. My painting is another to add to the missing list. If you see it or anyone trying to sell it please contact the RCMP in Whitehorse.
