Diana's Companion

Mixed media on paper

This was done for the Different Strokes from Different Folks challenge. The subject was the actual statue of Diana and her Companion. It was a huge challenge for me! I tried painting, sketching, and decided at the last minute to do something I had been wanting to try all along...create an interpretation using torn paper. (much like "newsman" from a previous post). There's something very satisfying about making a mess with paper, glue and paint!

I checked out your blog and found your newsman. That sounds like a great way to study values and this project worked out very well for you in this latest DSFDF challenge. I like how you created the shadow under her left arm. Very nice!

You did a fantastic job with your papers and glue! I love arranging and rearranging papers and mixed media to create a composition too. Fun fun.

You go Glenda!!! This is sooooo cool. good for you for doing it. I've been colouring some papers and thinking about what I want to try that collage technique out on. You did a terrific job of this.
