Charting the Stars Series - SOLD

#1 SOLD

#2 SOLD

#3 SOLD

#4 SOLD

I'm posting some close-ups of my work for Constellations. These four 8x8 paintings are part of the series entitled 'Charting the Stars'. As you can tell, this is quite a new journey in style.
(I think perhaps I was channeling my son's love of physics.)
All are acrylic on cradled panels, employing printmaking techniques in application as opposed to brush work. It was a very freeing process.

Highlights from Opening Night

Gallery shots, showing most of my work.

A la Carte Women
Edwige Graham, Gabriele Watts, Glenda Mosher, Kathy Piwowar

Opening night has come and gone. It was a jam packed event, coinciding with another opening in the Hougen's Heritage Gallery, adjacent to the Arts Underground Gallery. We so enjoyed the crowd and the comments on our group show.
If you weren't able to attend opening night the show is up until Dec 2.

An Invitation to a new Show + a Sneak Peak at one of my pieces

                                                                    Constellations l
SOLD
November 7th our Women a la Carte show 'CONSTELLATIONS' opens at Arts Underground in Whitehorse, YT. You are all invited to attend.
Kathy Piwowar, Edwige Graham, and myself have been busy creating all things heavenly. Kathy has created some stellar mixed media works. Edwige has been busy sewing heavenly fashion accoutrements, and I have been locked in my studio for weeks - lost in space (so it has felt).
I have been on a bold new creative journey - combining my joy of printmaking and painting with acrylics. I'll share a bit more in the days ahead.

Golden Evening

The days are shortening as the calendar year marches on. While I grieve the passing of fall, and brace myself for an inevitable winter, I am however, witness to glorious sunrises and sunsets again. Spectacular light to punctuate the long darkness ahead.
Available at North End Gallery, Whitehorse, YT.

Dear John...

6x6 Acrylic on panel
Available at North End Gallery, Whitehorse, YT.

Dear John...
Summer is waning, I'm sad to say. In spite of a pretty grey and wet season we've been off enjoying new Yukon sights; sharing them with friends and family. (I have stock piled some images for future inspiration.)
This little painting was created during the Whitehorse Plein Air Festival. The scene is from my day at the Fish Ladder. The sun was blazing hot that day. I wandered a fair bit looking for a suitable subject to paint. I was particularly interested in finding a shady spot in which to paint in comfort. And speaking of comfort, if you are going to spend a day in nature, locating an outdoor biffy is important! During my scouting I happened to discover this little outhouse tucked amidst some shady trees. I couldn't resist!

Evening Path - A Nocturne Painting SOLD

4x4 Acrylic on cradled panel
This week I've been a participant in the Whitehorse Plein Air Festival. For the past four days myself and 19 other artists have been at selected spots painting on site. Tomorrow is our final day, culminating in an evening exhibition of our works at YAW (Yukon Artists at Work - 120 Industrial Drive) in Whitehorse, starting at 5 pm.
This has been a wonderful experience. For the most part the weather has cooperated. This little painting was done as we were wrapping up our first night on site. I had been painting a river scene and as I turned around the evening light exposed this gem of a scene - 10:30 pm. Needless to say, I got straight to it!

Solstice Sketches = A painter's Dozen SOLD

12 4x4 acrylic paintings on cradled panels
The Yukon Art Society will be sharing member's art this July. The opening is Sat July 5th at Arts Underground 5 - 8pm. The theme this year is "Solstice". With all the comings and goings in my household I decided the best thing I could contribute was a series of small acrylic 'sketches'. There are always larger pieces on the go in my studio, however, when life is full of summer fun and family visits I seem to focus best on small paintings. (Click on the picture to see them close up.)
